We are congregationally driven and accountable while being elder-led. In our current structure, elders are selected by the congregation and are accountable to them. Elders are brought before the congregation on an annual basis for affirmation or negation. Also, elders may be terminated from service by a simple majority vote of the elder body. The church recognizes, in accordance with biblical guidelines for those who serve as elders, that elders are the spiritual leaders of the congregation and deserving of trust, and prayerful support. Matters of significance will always be brought before the body for affirmation or negation. No set number of elders is mandated, nor is there a limit to the term of their service. We understand, according to Galatians 3 and elsewhere, that we are not to function on the basis of gender, ethnicity, or socio-economics. Instead, our roles are to be called out in community on the basis of how the Holy Spirit gifts and empowers us.
